July 2024 – April 2025
Donor: Church World Service (CWS)
The project of the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights is focused on providing housing and integration support to refugees and asylum seekers, individuals with temporary protection, persons with disabilities, unaccompanied children, the elderly, SGBV survivors, and LGBTI+ individuals who have legal status in Serbia. The support primarily involves emergency housing assistance, which will be covered during the project’s duration, including finding suitable accommodation through the Airbnb platform or other means. Additionally, individuals will be offered integration assistance, specifically in accessing economic, social, and cultural rights in Serbia.
Working with clients involves a personalized approach that is tailored to their needs and aligned with relevant international standards, incorporating a comprehensive, human rights-based approach (HRBA) and a gender-sensitive perspective. By offering holistic housing and integration support, the project aims to diminish vulnerability and discrimination, while contributing to sustainable solutions and a safer future for these individuals.
The first set of activities during this project includes integration support, particularly in the procedures for obtaining personal documents, diploma recognition, accessing education, finding employment, securing housing, connecting with social work centers, and applying for state social assistance. Support will also be provided in accessing legal rights, such as family reunification, citizenship, travel documents, driver’s licenses, marital documentation, and more.
The second set of activities is focused on increasing visibility and raising awareness about the challenges and importance of integration, as well as the successes of vulnerable groups in Serbian society. By highlighting successful and inspiring stories of individuals and families who have used the services and received support through this project aims to promote a more inclusive and supportive environment for all vulnerable groups in Serbia.
