Business and Human Rights in Serbia

DECEMBER 2023 - SEPTEMBER 2024

Donor: United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)

The project aims to assess the baseline situation in order to develop a National Action Plan (NAP) on Business and Human Rights in the Republic of Serbia, based on the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. The NAP, which will be drafted by the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights (BCHR), will be relevant for the development of the National Strategy on Business and Human Rights, which is increasingly important in contemporary societies that need to put in place business standards not jeopardising people’s human rights.

BCHR is one of the first civil society organisations in Serbia that recognised the role and importance the NGO sector can have in the realisation, education and protection in the field of business and human rights, wherefore its implementation of the project will involve not only data collection, but also strengthening cooperation with other CSOs, as well as with various companies, business associations, public institutions, trade unions and other relevant stakeholders. The development and adoption of the first National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights in Serbia is the ultimate goal of the project.
