In partnership with the organisations FemPlatz and the National Association of Youth Workers (NAPOR), the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights (BCHR) will implement the EIDHR Civic Engagement Local Hives project funded by the EU Delegation to Serbia in the January 2024-December 2026 period.
The project aims to facilitate access to and effective enjoyment of human rights, in particular by women and youths, by improving the situation of individuals in local self-government units and civil society organisations and their active participation in local decision making. The project activities the partners will implement together across Serbia in direct communication and cooperation with beneficiaries in local communities will enable the empowerment of the networkof organisations and citizens to influence the implementation of the requisite policies and various activities at the local and national levels. The partners will report on the insight they gain in the problems and challenges the citizens face at the local level in the context of the realisation of human rights and gender equality within the workshops, focus groups, interviews, research and continuous work and capacity building of individuals during the three-year project to the domestic and international communities, with a view to improving their situation. Another important element of the project is the establishment of a virtual library on human rights (Human Rights Support Hub), which will be managed by the BCHR. The Support Hub, which will be easily accessible to CSOs and citizens, will include all the necessary information on individual rights and ways to protect them.
