Transitional Justice Seminar in Novi Pazar:
“Dealing with the past: An Introduction to Transitional Justice with a special focus on War Crimes Trials and the Jurisprudence of the ICJ in the Genocide cases.”
Herewith the OSCE Mission to Serbia issues a call for applications for participation in a Transitional Justice Seminar on
“Dealing with the past: An Introduction to Transitional Justice with a special focus on War Crimes Trials and the Jurisprudence of the ICJ in the Genocide cases” which will take place in Novi Pazar from 27 to 29 September 2015.
The seminar is intended for students in the final year of their graduate studies and postgraduate students of universities in Serbia, youth involved in political parties, public administration, media and representatives from civil society organizations.
The seminar will cover the following topics:
- An introduction to transitional justice mechanisms;
- Truth commissions;
- Reparations;
- The International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) and the International Court of Justice (ICJ) with a special focus on cases dealing with Srebrenica;
- National war crimes trials;
- Crimes based on gender and sexual violence in armed conflict.
Seminars’ lecturers will include leading domestic and regional experts in the fields of transitional justice, history, international public law, international humanitarian law, and international criminal law.
The OSCE Mission to Serbia will cover costs of transportation, accommodation and meals for seminar participants. Eligibility is restricted to applicants who are currently residing in Serbia.
