Members of the Third Committee of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly visits Belgrade Centre for Human Rights

 Belgrade Centre for Human Rights (BCHR) had a pleasure to welcome members of the Third Committee of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in the House of Human Rights. Delegation of the Third Committee which is in charge of human rights issues, expressed intention to meet representatives of Belgrade Centre for Human Rights during delegation’s working visit to Serbia and disscuss Serbia’s response to the refugee crisis and asylum sistem in our country.

Representatives of Belgrade Centre for Human Rights elaborated to the OSCE delegation the historical developments, characteristics and challenges of the asylum sistem in Serbia. Additionally, the BCHR representatives explained how the asylum procedure in Serbia works and what are the challenges that persons who are granted refugee status or subsidiary protection in Serbia face to exercise their rights. BCHR representatives streesed that integration plan for persons who have international protection on the terittory of the Republic of Serbia does not exist yet.

Belgrade Centre for Human Rights wishes to express gratitude to delegation of the Third Committee of the OSCE Parliamentrary Assembly for their visit and interest to hear our insights on the refugee crisis. We hope that our guests found meeting informative and useful. Position of refugees can be improved only with joint efforts of state institutions, civil society organisations and efficient transnational cooperation.
