Examples from the Semafor Diary

January 19, 2018

Young people from Prijepolje, Sjenica, and Novi Pazar who were involved in the project “SEMAFOR – Green light for gender equality” in the second phase of the project had the opportunity to explore gender roles and their perceptions in the local community. Some of the topics that were the subject of research are: gender roles in everyday life; gender roles in the media; gender norms through a religious perspective. Part of the participants collected personal stories of men and women who did not fit into a typical picture in their community, while others dealt with “typical” men and women.

The collected materials are registered in SEMAFOR Diary, a place where we record all information on gender roles, our thoughts, fellow citizens’ stories, open questions and dilemmas. We create our space here and encourage thinking by drawing, writing and erasing written, making collages, fearing and tearing what we have wronged. Also, Diary serves as an inspiration for the creation of an animated film on the subject of gender roles and gender norms.
