Meeting of the Belgrade Center for Human Rights with representatives of the Republic Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Special Prosecutor’s Office for High-Tech Crime

Representatives of the Belgrade Center for Human Rights met with special prosecutor for high-tech crime Branko Stamenkovic, deputy public prosecutor Dr Jasmina Kiurski and deputy republican public prosecutor Tamara Mirovic. This meeting had the purpose of establishing cooperation of Belgrade Center for Human Rights with the Public Prosecutor’s Office in order to exchange experiences of this institution in the fight against hate speech. During the meeting, participants discussed about the existing legal framework regarding hate speech as a form of discrimination, as well as the challenges that the prosecution meets in its practice.

Comments on Working text of the amendment to the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia

The Belgrade Center for Human Rights, the Lawyers Committee for Human Rights YUCOM and the Association of Public Prosecutors and Deputy Public Prosecutors of Serbia sent a joint comment on the Working text of the amendment to the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia of the Ministry of Justice in the part concerning the regulation of the public prosecution and holders of public prosecutorial functions.

The Commissioner for the Protection of Equality filed a criminal report on hate speech on the Internet

Belgrade Center for Human Rights expresses great concern over the increasingly frequent hate speech in the online sphere. For this reason, the Belgrade Center for Human Rights within the project “Anonymous Hatred” launches available anti-hate speech protection mechanisms, such as complaints to the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality and Appeal to the Press Council. There is discussion on withdrawing the amendments

Conference „Youth Brings On Enlightenment“

On Women’s Day, the conference “Youth Brings On Enlightenment” was held in Human Rights House. The conference is the final event of the project “Inclusion of young people in the process of research and change of gender roles and patterns in Sandžak” and is dedicated to gender equality from the perspective of young people in Serbia today.
