The ceremony of depositing the ratifications of the Roman Statute of the International Criminal Court shall be held in the UN headquarters in New York on 11 April. The deposition of the 60th ratification shall formally mark the establishment of the permanent International Criminal Court. The BCHR, a member of the coalition for the International Criminal Court, would like to highlight the importance of establishing a permanent international body that will try individuals responsible for gross international crimes. The FRY in 2001 joined the group of countries that had ratified the document adopted at the UN diplomatic conference in Rome on 17 July 1998. Countries that ratified the Statute have expressed their readiness to partake in the creation of a mechanism to bring to justice perpetrators of international crimes notwithstanding their citizenship.
