12 September 2001 – The Board and all collaborators of the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights are profoundly shocked by the vicious terrorist attacks on symbolic targets in the United States of America resulting in terrible losses of innocent lives. We express our solidarity with the American people and particularly with our friends from the non-governmental organizations and foundations with whom we have so fruitfully collaborated in the past decade. We believe that we shall, together with our American friends, deny the terrorists the pleasure of having created panic and confusion and return as soon as possible to our normal duties in order to contribute to the eradication of all causes of violence and the prosecution of all those who use other peoples’ grievances to further their selfish criminal goals.
