The first contains a brief overview of the criminal law relevant to the punishment of torture and a brief depiction of the available jurisprudence which follows this legislation. The second part contains general observations on the treatment of persons deprived of their liberty in penal institutions. The final part contains individual reports on the treatment of persons deprived of their liberty in ten institutions, which the Centre visited in the previous year.
