The main object of this project was to raise awareness and the level of knowledge among secondary-school students in Serbia about the European Union and the prospects of integration processes in Europe, as well as about the benefits for Serbia after association and accession to EU. The aim of the project was to enable the students to acquire necessary knowledge about those issues so as to take part in public debates about them. Goal was to make them more interested in these matters as well as to try to direct their aspirations toward supporting the necessary reforms needed for accession of Serbia to EU. (more…)

Redress in Action

Duration of project: January – July 2005

Goal of this project was to strengthen and empower forcibly mobilised refugees through continual provision of psychological, medical and legal rehabilitation, in-court representation in their claims for compensation of damages, as well as produce recommendations on good practices in dealing with these issues, increase the awareness about the problem of torture and effect positive legislative change in terms of torture incrimination. Training Lawyers on Rules and Procedures before the European Court for Human Rights

Belgrade centre for Human Rights and OSCE  have organised seminar : „Training on Rules and Procedures before the European Court for Human Rights аnd analisis of domestic cases“. Lecturers were experts from OSCE and Belgrade Centre for Human Rights, as well as foreign experts. The main goal of seminar was to itroduce standards of European Conventions for Human Rights to lawyers that deal with proprety problems of reffugees in Bosnia, Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro. Part of teh seminar was devoted to analisis of Protocol 1 of European Convention.

Training for Officials of Vojvodina Provincial Ombudsman and Municipal Ombudsmen on International and National Human Rights Standards

Duration of the project: March – April 2005

In order to provide training for all Vojvodina Ombudsperson office staff members on international and domestic human rights standards BCHR organised two trainigs. Trainings were held in Novi Sad , March 17- 19 and April 7-8. Lectures on this seminars were experts from Council of Europe, Belgrade Centre for Human Rights, representatives of judiciary (Vida Petrovic Skero–president of Supreme Court, Gordana Mihajlovic – president of II municipal Court, Leposava Karamarkovic).

UPS Magazin

Donor: IFA Media-Im-Pakt and the Stability Pact for South East Europe
Duration of project: September 2005 – March 2006

The purpose of the project was to create the first high-quality online youth magazine in Serbia that would serve both as a reliable online source of youth-related information and as a ground stone for developing an editorial/technical mechanism for the future printed “UPS!” Magazine. For six issues of e-Magazine that were produced all of the articles were produced in cooperation between the experienced and one or two inexperienced journalists. This way the young journalists  have been able to learn from their older colleague on a real-life example. (more…)

You are Right! – U pravu si!

Duration of project: January 2005 – June 2006

Since 2001, “U pravu si!” has been the most appreciated guide through legal system for Serbian youth. The purpose of the “U pravu si!” project was to strengthen civil society and the development of bottom-up democracy. Until now there have been two major printed editions and several sub- and special editions of the Guide (e.g. “U pravu si!” online, “U pravu si!” on the EXIT festival), which have jointly built a very strong project identity.
